Our Process
From a tiny seed to something extraordinary.
A Limelight diamond takes shape one layer at a time.Here’s how it happens.
The Seed
Every diamond starts with a beginning.
The process starts with a thin slice of pure carbon crystal. This diamond seed becomes the foundation for the stone that grows around it.
The CVD Chamber
Then, we recreate the conditions that make a diamond.
The seed is placed inside a CVD plasma reactor, where controlled conditions replicate the intense environment associated with natural diamond formation.
The Growth
One layer at a time.
Carbon rich gases are introduced into the chamber, allowing carbon to build onto the diamond seed and grow the stone layer by layer.
The Control
Precision changes everything.
Unlike the natural environment, the controlled CVD process gives us greater control over what goes into the growing diamond.
The Rough Diamond
And then, there it is. A diamond.
Once the growth process is complete, the result is a rough diamond, ready to be transformed from its raw form into something much more refined.
The Cut
Precision gives it its shape.
The rough diamond is carefully cut to create the facets and proportions that bring out its character.
The Polish
Craftsmanship brings it to life.
Master artisans polish the stone, refining every facet until its brilliance begins to reveal itself.
The Finished Diamond
Same properties. Superior quality.
The finished stone is a real diamond, created through a different beginning. At Limelight, every diamond is Type IIa, the ultimate and rarest grade of diamond.

Our Standards
Because beauty should come with proof.
Every Limelight diamond is Type IIa, the highest purity classification for diamonds. While only around 2% of mined diamonds reach this classification, 100% of Limelight diamonds are Type IIa. Every diamond is also independently certified by recognised laboratories, including SGL, IGI or GIA, so there is proof behind every stone.

For years, we were told that a diamond had to come from the earth to be real.
We think it is time to look again.
Lab grown diamonds are diamonds. They have the same essential physical, chemical and optical properties as mined diamonds. The difference is where they begin.
At Limelight, advanced CVD technology gives us greater control over how a diamond grows, while expert craftsmanship takes it from rough stone to finished diamond.

CVD vs HPHT
Two technologies. One very real diamond.
Lab-grown diamonds can be created using two established technologies: CVD and HPHT. Limelight uses CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) to grow its diamonds.
